My child is rejected and needs to be placed in a school. What must I do now?

Submit all rejection letters and requested documents to the Admissions Customer Care desk at the district office. The District Learner Admissions Committee (DLAC) will start placement from 01 September 2025.

My child is currently at an Independent school. I can no longer afford the fees. Can my child be placed in a no-fee public school?

The learner’s Home Language and First Additional Languages will determine which no-fee schools are able to assist.

When will I know that my child has been placed at a school?

Once the DLAC has placed a learner, the details of the placement are sent to the receiving school. The school will then contact the parent to complete the required documentation.

What if I do not live close to the school that I wish to apply to?

Please apply at the nearest schools first.

What if I only wish to apply to one school?

You must apply to more than one school.

What is required when transferring schools?

The child’s current report is needed and documents. And proof of transfer of parent.

What is the age admission for Grade 1?

According to SASA Sec. 5(4)(a)(ii) Grade 1 is age five turning six by 30 June in the year of admission.
